The Service Board Core Program:
From January to June, 48 high-school students from across Seattle participate in community service, mentoring, and snowboarding. 24 young-ish adult volunteers provide logistical support, listening, and friendly camaraderie. The core program operates in two locations: the Central District and White Center. Each program meets twice a week for six months. Tuesday nights (White Center) and Wednesday nights (Central District) bring job skills training, workshops with former drug users, family-style potluck meals, discussions on body image and sexuality, and making valentines for senior citizens, to name a few. Sundays alternate between community service projects and snowboarding. Cookies, music, snowballs, fresh food, and a sense of community are the common threads that tie all of this together.

Everyone comes to TSB at different places in their lives, and leaves TSB somewhere better. TSB alumni stories in their own words:

tSB BAND:
In 2006, the Service Board is proud to announce the inauguration of tSBand. Organized by White Center Program Mentor and "Kore Ionz" front man Daniel Pak, tSBand provides opportunities for our student prophets to experiment and collaborate in creating music. The hope is that tSBand will serve as a constant creative outlet for Seattle's Rainier Valley and White Center musically interested youth. Current collaborations and musical brethren include: The Blue Scholars, One Family Inc., Zia Mohajerjasbi, Obese Productions and Abyssinian Creole.

Summer Programs:
In 2002 TSB launched Freedom Summer, a two-week program for 15 young people focusing on issues relating to the criminal justice system. The following year one of the organizers worked with community groups to coordinate Freedom Rising, a hip hop educational event drawing more than 100 youth. In 2004 TSB expanded Freedom Summer to Freedom Crisis Project, a three-week program with a focus on arts and expression.
