How many programs does tSB offer?
We offer three programs: Core Program in Winter, the Peer Leader Program, and Summer Internships.
Who can participate?
Anyone in high school during the 2015-16 school year. Adults can apply as mentors, or sign up as a volunteer to help with Wednesday dinners, snowboard instruction, help with other events, and or lots of other ways.
Does this count towards my service learning requirement?
Yes. Our core program covers the full 60 hours of service learning credit required by Seattle to graduate.
How much does it cost? Are there scholarships?
Core Program in Winter costs $310 for transportation, meals, retreats, and space rental. We have several payment options, and full or partial scholarships are available. Your application will not be influenced by your ability to pay.
All snowboarding equipment and lift tickets are donated by local companies and provided to our participants.
Where and when do we meet?
Core Program meets weekly January through June. Sundays we’ll alternate between service learning projects that you plan and snowboarding adventures at the Summit at Snoqualmie and Stevens Pass. Wednesday nights, we meet for a meal and workshop focused on social justice, goal setting, creative expression and environmentalism.
What do I need to get started?
Choose the program that’s right for you, then fill out the online application. You’ll need some information from your parents, and the names of three references to complete the application.
