Irene was a  tSB Prophet in 2008 and returned as a Peer Leader in 2009. After graduating, she moved to Juneau, Alaska where she is a college student and musician. She recently rediscovered some letters she wrote to herself while in tSB and posted them on her blog. Check out just how awesome she is: Letters From the 15 Year-old Me.

Hana with some of her tSB family!

Hana (aka HanaBananaChan) started with us back in ’10 as a Prophet in our winter program. A sophomore at Holy Names Academy, she demonstrated great leadership and took on the role as a Peer Leader for our first All City program the following year. Now she is at Seattle Central, due to attend the University of Washington in the winter for international studies. Her dream is to travel and critique cuisine all around the world, much like Anthony Bourdain. During her spare time she has been making art (a lot of them centered around cats) , exploring the Seattle food scene, exhibits, and local movie premieres, and collecting CDs. She’s an amazing individual, and we can’t tell you how proud we are of her. Hana has a heart of gold and will be tSB family forever!

Desiree and Ashley!

We met Desiree in 2010 as a Prophet in our White Center program. After three amazing years with this lovely lady, we can definitely tell you that her heart is just as big as her smile. She served last year as a Peer Leader for our program, demonstrating excellent leadership qualities, and was one of the head photographers that turned out many of the beautiful pictures you see on our website. Despite being president of her class and immensely busy in school, Desiree made it a point to give back to tSB every opportunity she got.

Finally accepted into her dream school, the University of Washington, she aspires to major in international business with a minor in Japanese (kawaii! ^_^), in hopes of “creating a business that will help support people that cannot afford the help they need.”  Her secondary plan is to pursue architecture and create a firm that specializes in sustainable, affordable housing.

“I’m not sure what that would look like yet, but I”m determined that it will be a positive experience.” Indeed, Desiree, we’re more than sure that you’ll do big things for world! Dont’ forget us when you’re famous. (:

Here’s a piece of Desiree’s reflection on her  years with tSB:

“tSB changed me to be a better, caring person. I felt like I was just a person who said hi to everyone but now I actually can take the time and make the effort to start a conversation with someone! Especially to strive and meet new people. Also, without tSB I also wouldn’t have been able to push myself to do things I didn’t think I was capable of. Before, I just did things that made me comfortable and I stayed in my comfy little box. But when I was exposed to snow boarding or certain service projects, I really had to step out of my comfort zone and take a chance of something. SO… THANK YOU tSB! Thank you for molding me to be an even better person that I am today. As well as for always giving me support and the family that I didn’t have. tSB is an amazing program that provides youth, like me, to find themselves and also finding their hidden, magic abilities within.”

We love you Desiree, and we’re so proud of you. Thanks for being an amazing individual, and always keep smiling!

pic crop Pedro Hernandez

A former mentor in 2006-08, Pedro now has a career in fruit and vegetable packaging in Bakersfield, California., providing machinery that packs up the goods from the farm to deliver at your local store! He’s responsible for the international market growth of 1 of two companies in the U.S. that has patents to make 1/2 poly 1/2 mesh bags that you see in the grocery store used to bag bundles of potatoes, oranges, and bunch of other yummy foods together. Impressive!

He recently had a day in town with tSB and we miss him tons!! Hope you’ll get the chance to spend more time with the tSB family in the future Pedro. We’re proud of you!

Rosario-Maria's wedding photo back in May!

Rosario-Maria was a Prophet with tSB back in ’05, her 9th grade year of high school. A lot has changed since then; she now spends her time loving two crazy dogs and an amazing husband whom she married on last May, and she’ll be returning to school in the fall of 2012 to finish up her AS in pursuit of becoming a dental hygienist.  She also enjoys volunteering, teaching baile folklorico and learning about herself through  participating in Danza Azteca. We miss you Rosario-Maria! We’re so proud of who’ve you’ve become since tSB.

Pai Pai Pongsupaht

He's gonna hit ya with that tSB flavor.

Pai is tSBrilliant! He’s the mastermind behind tSB’s growing Food & Nutrition program, the cool cat that served as a dope mentor, and an awesome Board member. He has taught us a lot about what it means to live well, eat well and love compassionately. These days he’s been feeding Seattle’s appetite in his Thai-Hawaiian food truck, Pai’s, which is uber popular! Even though he’s super busy with his business, Pai always makes time for tSB, and for that, we are thankful. You’ve given us not only food for our tummies, but food for thought. We love you Pai!

tSB+rAdam=the freshest!

RAdam, you are one special dude. After 2(2) years of being a radical number in our mentor lineup, you’re now moving on to serve youth by helping them combat their worst enemy: mathematics! We’re so proud of  you, Mr. Christopulous, math teacher at Rainer Beach high school. It’s just like you to give your help where it’s needed most, and your tSB family has definitely learned a great deal from you and your big heart. We love you ×∞, tSB forever and beyond!
