We are excited to announce our search for an awesome person to fill a part-time Coach Across America position.

This position will be focused on supporting the Service Board’s outdoor programming, including snowboarding trips, skateboarding instruction, service-learning projects and retreats. The position will be responsible for efforts to recruit, coordinate and track tSB volunteers. This person will play a major role in refining the snowboarding program curriculum and serve as the point-person for on mountain days.

The Coach will coordinate and track information for volunteers; provide orientations, communicate necessary instructions in a timely manner and keep contact information in Salesforce. They will support stewardship of tSB partners and sponsors. Additionally, they will work with tSB staff to support the management of the Food Program, working with volunteers to facilitate healthy and culturally relevant meals at tSB programming.

Coach Across America is modeled after the AmeriCorps program, which provides those interested in serving their country through service.  Successful candidates will complete 900 hours of service in a span of 12 months.  The stipend will come out to $8.25/ hour with an additional education award of $2000 upon completion and season passes to The Summit at Snoqualmie and Stevens Pass.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead recruitment and screening of volunteers for snowboard instruction, skate programming and service.
  • Provide orientation and training for snowboard instruction volunteers.
  • Coordinate and track information for volunteers; communicate necessary instructions in a timely manner and keep contact information in Salesforce.
  • Work with tSB staff to develop on-mountain curriculum and skills tracking for tSB students; act as point person for on-mountain activities.
  • Work with staff to evaluate program successes and develop program improvement plans.
  • Serve as liaison for tSB partnership opportunities with sponsors and nonprofit partners.
  • Manage equipment and maintenance related to outdoor activities; support corporate partner communications.
  • Help identify and communicate with community partners; track success or challenges of partnerships in Salesforce.
  • Support tSB fundraising efforts by service as an ambassador to donors, working at special events and in reporting efforts.
  • Schedule is 20 hours / week with some flexibility, but Sundays are require from November – May.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of and passion for snowboarding and snowboard instruction (Certification preferred).
  • Ability to work as a team member with staff, students, volunteers, sponsors and larger tSB family.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to gracefully manage deadlines, priorities and multiple projects.
  • Ability to work weekends and evening hours as needed (Sundays required in the winter time)
  • Ability to maintain professional standards that reflect positively on the organization.
  • Good communication and public relation skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals and groups.
  • Sense of humor, good taste in music and overall awesomeness.
  • Ability to handle privileged information in a discreet and confidential manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree or BA.
  • Certified Snowboard Instructors preferred.
  • First Aid & CPR Certification or WFR.
  • Knowledge of youth programming, curriculum development, liberation theology and a social justice foundation of service important.
  • Ability to work weekends and evening hours as needed (Sundays required in the winter time)
  • Knowledge of marginalized cultures and urban youth/community issues.

ADDITIONAL TRAINING:

  • tSB will provide an orientation that includes organizational culture and mentorship best-practices.
  • Coach Across America will provide professional development that includes a National Institute, webinars and site-visits.
