Another beautiful Thursday spent outside in the sun with Arts in Service! Today, we made a pretty large-scale mosaic with our guest teaching artist, Yeggy. While creating the mosaic, he taught us the importance of spacing in the mosaic, as well as in art in general. He also provided us with the knowledge that in art 1 plus 1 does not always equal 2. There is no right or wrong, and that’s what makes art beautiful and creative. Smart words from a smart man, I must say.

We spent the entirety of the day very focused and determined on finishing, though we had lots of fun: singing along to songs from a very broad range of artists like Backstreet Boys and Lady Gaga and Usher. Ben Nguyen, especially, worked very hard on his lovely sailboat and water pieces. The mosaic’s still slightly in progress, but it already looks pretty darn amazing. It will be showcased along with the other art we create on Thursday, August 5, during the art walk. More details coming soon! 😀
